Our courses require at least early pre-intermediate English and are not designed for absolute beginners. We focus on communication for your current work, including business, law, medicine and academic settings. General language schools can help you build the basics first. Individual courses may require a higher starting level.
Complete one free evaluation before your first course. Buying materials for self-study or use with your own teacher? Use the automatic evaluation for an indicative starting-level recommendation. It does not include personal feedback, speaking review or a conversation with Mr. Polushin. Enrolled HOE class students receive the fuller teacher-reviewed evaluation after their access is confirmed. At least early pre-intermediate English (A2) is required; some courses need a higher level. You do not repeat placement for every course.

The same material price applies whether you study independently, with HOE or with your own teacher. Each student needs their own personal access. HOE team teachers can teach general, focused and customized courses; Mr. Polushin personally teaches customized courses only. Teacher-guided learning is recommended.
Your external teacher can accompany your learning without a separate paid teacher licence or a dedicated teaching portal. This does not grant permission to share student logins, redistribute materials or represent HOE. Each student purchases their own bundle.

A course built around your role, sector and immediate communication needs. The customized material and access fee is quoted separately after the needs review.
Monthly packages are paid at the beginning of each month, before classes. These are actual teaching hours, not a promise of four or eight calendar weeks. Additional classes use the same hourly rate and are prepaid, subject to availability. There is no eight-hour price threshold.
Groups of 2–4 require a suitability review: compatible English levels and shared professional needs, preferably within the same team. Each additional student adds R$30 per group-hour. The figures below are the TOTAL group price per hour, not the price per person.

We select teachers for clear, accurate and intelligible pronunciation, language proficiency, teaching ability and commitment to student progress. Native or non-native status is not a selection criterion. Speaking English alone does not make someone a teacher. Our teachers must be experienced teaching professionals who can motivate students and help them keep going. Every HOE teacher has at least five years of teaching experience. We expect respectful, professional treatment of every student and teacher.
We actively use AI to develop varied, focused materials with professional review. AI is a tool. We believe in blended learning: independent practice combined with a teacher’s feedback, encouragement and accountability. Self-study access is available, but it is not our recommended primary route for demanding professional communication.
